The youth executive committee of the public utility workers union with support from iWASH Africa on Wednesday 30th September 2020 presented twelve hand sanitizer dispensers and seventy liters of hand sanitizer produced by the Regional Laboratory of the Ghana Water Company Limited to the Managements of Electricity Company of Ghana, Ghana Water Company Limited, State Housing Company, and Community Water & Sanitation Agency in the Volta Region. This intervention dubbed ‘Operation Sanitize’ is aimed at ensuring all hands are sanitized in the beneficiary offices and the exchange of documents in these offices does not put workers and customers at risk of the Corona Virus.

The Programmes Coordinator of iWASH Africa, Ms. Dzifa Acolor mentioned during the presentation ceremony that as a social enterprise they believe in the critical role that the youth and collaboration plays in community development. And it is based on that value that the coordination team of iWASH Africa decided to support Youth of PUWU Volta to undertake ‘Operation Sanitize’. The Youth Coordinator of PUWU Volta, Angela Medadeus-Badohu also stressed on the fact that as youth they do not want to be beneficiaries only but contribute in their own small way to support their various institutions.

In all, items worth Five Thousand Ghana Cedis were donated to the four public utility organizations. The various Managements of the institutions expressed their profound gratitude and thanked the Youth for their exemplary act.
